Mega Venusaur returns to the Pokémon TCG as a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, and it’s packing some serious lumber with a massive 380 HP—the highest HP total ever revealed on a Pokémon TCG card. Mega Venusaur ex has an attack to match its towering might—its Jungle Dump attack does 240 damage (and heals 30) for
, making it an even more serious bulwark. You don’t have to fully commit to Mega Venusaur ex either, as its Solar Transfer Ability can plant seeds for multiple attackers by moving Basic
Energy around at will.
The other revealed Mega Evolution Pokémon ex is none other than Mega Latias ex, making its appearance in the Pokémon TCG for the first time. This Legendary Pokémon is all about speed, darting from the Active Spot to the Bench with its Strafe attack. This Pokémon not only floats like a Butterfree, but it also stings like a Beedrill; its Illusory Impulse attack does a massive 300 damage for
, with the additional cost of discarding all of its attached Energy.
Powerful Pokémon attract powerful Trainers, and Mega Evolution isn’t lacking in either. Alongside these Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and a variety of other unique cards are none other than Lillie and Wally.
Lillie’s Determination* showcases her moxie, allowing you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 6 cards. If you have exactly 6 Prize cards remaining, you draw 8 cards instead—a perfect effect when you’re setting up at the start of a game. Wally’s Compassion* shows off his caring nature, healing all damage from 1 of your Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and putting all Energy attached to that Pokémon into your hand. This card is even more powerful when combined with Mega Venusaur ex’s Solar Transfer Ability; you can move Energy off it, heal all the damage, and move the Energy back with no penalty!
Between these cool new cards, Hariyama’s amazing gusting effect, and the debut of ultra rare Item and Pokémon Tool cards, there’s already plenty to be excited about for the Mega Evolution Series of the Pokémon TCG.
