Shine Bright with Mimikyu, Gardevoir ex, Charizard ex, and more in Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates

These Pokémon TCG cards have been at the top tables all season, and now they’re ready to shine even brighter as Shiny Pokémon.

You’ve probably played with a few of these cards at your local League or with a friend. And if you haven’t, there’s no better time to add a little sparkle to your next deck. Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates features glimmering reprints of previously released Pokémon TCG cards as Shiny Pokémon, ready to make binders and decks across the world shine just a bit brighter. Here are some of the Shiny Pokémon that can pack a punch and foil out your deck all at once.

Baxcalibur

Chien-Pao ex decks have been popular since the Legendary Pokémon first debuted in the Pokémon TCG as part of the Scarlet & Violet—Paldea Evolved expansion, and Baxcalibur has been by its side every step of the way. The Ice Dragon Pokémon’s Super Cold Ability really makes the deck shine as Chien-Pao ex takes Knock Out after Knock Out with its Hail Blade attack. In Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates, Baxcalibur appears with a lighter tone and bright pink claws, flanked by sparkling stars.

Mimikyu

Stall and control decks usually rely on Pokémon with disruptive Abilities that counter specific game plans. Mimikyu has been paired most often with Snorlax and was part of a deck that won the Gdańsk Regional Championships earlier this competitive season. The ghostly Disguise Pokémon gets even more macabre with a sleek, grayscale appearance certain to strike extra fear into your opponents.

Annihilape

Gym Leader Challenge is a great format to show off some of your prettiest cards, and Annihilape is particularly well-known for being a strong Pokémon in Fighting-type decks due to its powerful Rage Fist attack. Hitoshi Ariga’s rendition of the Rage Monkey Pokémon with a chilling blue tinge has it looking particularly aggressive as it makes a dive kick.

Murkrow

Murkrow is set to take down opposing Pokémon in a glimmering purple style. The Darkness Pokémon is often the most important attacker in decks focused on using the United Wings attack. You can also find its companions—Flamigo, Wattrel, and even the brand-new Kilowattrel with its United Thunder attack—as Shiny Pokémon. After all, Pokémon of a Shiny feather flock together.

Skwovet

Your Pokémon TCG match is an absolute nail-biter, and you just need one more card! Skwovet—clad in sparkles, appearing as a Shiny Pokémon—comes to the rescue with its Nest Stash Ability. Its clutch factor was made clear when it helped Landen Kaetler win the 2023 Portland Regional Championships as part of their Arceus VSTAR / Giratina VSTAR deck. Skwovet shined then, and it’s shining even brighter now.

Scizor

Single-Energy attacks make it easy to fit certain Pokémon into all kinds of decks, and Scizor has shined in that regard, with its Punishing Scissors attack adding an extra dimension to decks like Lost Box and Gholdengo ex. Now, it’s shining in another way as it appears in a smooth lime-green color reminiscent of Scyther. Shiny Scizor is certain to add not only extra gameplay flavor to your next deck but extra aesthetic flavor too.

Squawkabilly ex

Squawkabilly ex is one of those Pokémon that can make its way into every deck thanks to its powerful Squawk and Seize Ability. You’ll see it in Miraidon ex decks, Roaring Moon ex decks, and even Klawf decks—this Parrot Pokémon is especially helpful to any deck that wants to draw a ton of cards to start the game. Why not flash a Shiny Squawkabilly ex next time you prepare to draw through your deck?

Pidgeot ex

Fly high and shine bright with Pidgeot ex appearing as a Shiny Pokémon. Pidgeot ex has appeared as the key partner to Charizard ex, providing unmatched consistency with its Quick Search Ability that allows players to search their deck for any card and put it into their hand. With this release of Pidgeot ex, you’d even be able to include four different illustrations in the same deck (although most decks usually cap out at two copies)!

Gardevoir ex

Appreciate an artwork portraying pure serenity—Shiny Gardevoir sways by a lake in a moonlight-drenched forest, with the surrounding Pokémon in complete peace. You can digest the beauty of this artwork as you play Gardevoir ex in a competitive deck focused on its Psychic Embrace Ability. Make your Psychic-type deck shine even more by pairing it with Shiny rare Drifloon.

Charizard ex

Rule the battlefield with a Shiny Charizard that looks poised to blaze a path to victory. Charizard ex is one of the most powerful decks in the Standard format and continues to see play at Regional Championships this competitive season. AKIRA EGAWA’s original special illustration rare Charizard ex took our breath away when it released in Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames, and this one is no different, ready to find its way into your next deck.
