Luminous Legends Y Introduces Sylveon and Yveltal to Pokémon GO

Challenge Team GO Rocket and complete themed research during this two-part event.

Pokémon GO’s Luminous Legends Y event—running from May 18 through May 31, 2021—boasts so many exciting Pokémon, activities, and research opportunities that it’s been split into two parts! Here’s what you can expect during each part of the event.

Part 1

The first part of Luminous Legends Y runs from Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. During this period, the Dark- and Flying-type Legendary Pokémon Yveltal will make its Pokémon GO debut in five-star raids! Check out the Yveltal Pokémon GO Raid Battle Tips page to find out which Pokémon and attacks to use against the Destruction Pokémon, and how to make the best use of Yveltal after you’ve caught it.

Other Dark-type Pokémon, like Alolan Meowth, will also be appearing in raids during Part 1.

Defeat Team GO Rocket Grunts during Part 1 to receive Strange Eggs that may contain Qwilfish, Larvitar, Absol, Skorupi, Sandile, Scraggy, Pawniard, Vullaby, Deino, or Pancham. Pokémon hatching from 7 km Eggs will include Alolan Rattata, Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer, Sneasel, Poochyena, Stunky, and Purrloin.

During Part 1 of Luminous Legends Y, Dark-type Pokémon like Houndour and Carvanha will be appearing more often in the wild. In addition, some of the Pokémon featured in the Luminous Legends X event—like Spritzee, Swirlix, and Goomy—will also be appearing in the wild more frequently.

By completing event-exclusive Field Research, you can earn encounters with Dark-type Pokémon like Galarian Zigzagoon, Scraggy, and more. AR Mapping research tasks will also reward encounters with Galarian Zigzagoon.

During Part 1 of Luminous Legends Y, you can use a Charged TM on Shadow Pokémon to help them forget the Charged Attack Frustration and learn a new move.

Part 2

The second part of Luminous Legends Y takes place from Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, May 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During Part 2, you’ll be able to add Sylveon to your Pokédex by earning lots of hearts with Eevee when it’s your buddy. There will also be Sylveon-inspired avatar items in the shop to celebrate the Intertwining Pokémon’s debut in Pokémon GO!

Several of Eevee’s other Evolutions—like Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, and Umbreon—will be appearing in three-star raids during Part 2 of the event. You can also earn encounters with Eevee and some of its Evolutions by completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks, and earn Poffins by completing event-exclusive AR mapping research tasks.

Eevee and Sylveon aren’t the only Pokémon in the spotlight during Part 2 of Luminous Legends Y, however. Pokémon appearing more often in the wild will include Ralts, Spritzee, Swirlix, and several of the Dark-type Pokémon featured in Part 1 of the event. Plus, the Pokémon hatching from 7 km Eggs will include Eevee, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Azurill, Spritzee, and Swirlix.
