Gigantamax Snorlax Snoozes into a Pokémon GO Max Battle Day

Enjoy fierce battles and sweet dreams with Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO.

It might be hard to imagine Snorlax being an even bigger deal, but that’s just what’ll happen in Pokémon GO’s Gigantamax Snorlax Max Battle Day. It’s sure to amp the excitement to the max! Round up a team of Fighting-type Pokémon to challenge Gigantamax Snorlax in six-star Max Battles on April 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. You won’t want to forget your Max Mushrooms for this challenge, since they temporarily double all damage dealt by Gigantamax Pokémon and Dynamax Pokémon. Unless you’ve got a posse of 40 Trainers handy, you’ll definitely need the extra damage that Max Mushrooms can provide.

Don’t snooze on these event bonuses that will be in effect during the event.

  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600

  • All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles

  • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots

  • Two additional Special Trades

  • Power Spots will refresh more frequently

And these bonuses will be available from April 19, 2025, from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

  • 2× Max Particles for exploring

  • 1/4 adventuring distance to receive Max Particles

Max Out with Research

From April 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. to April 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. local time, Trainers can take on Timed Research that leads to an encounter with Dynamax Machop—a great choice when taking on Gigantamax Snorlax. Other rewards include Candy and Max Particles to help get your team battle-ready. An event ticket that provides access to event-exclusive Timed Research is also available for US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Complete this research task to earn rewards that include one Max Mushroom and 25,000 XP. Trainers with a ticket can also enjoy event bonuses that include 2× XP from Max Battles and a Max Particle collection limit increase to 5,600. The ticket is available in the in-game shop through April 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. local time.

About Max Battles

Unlike normal Raid Battles, Max Battles featuring Gigantamax Pokémon must be taken on in person with Gigantamax Pokémon or Dynamax Pokémon. These battles are extremely difficult and often require 20 to 40 Trainers to secure victory. Since Trainers are required to field Max Pokémon, the Pokémon you can bring into battle are also limited.

Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon, which means it has a single weakness: Fighting-type attacks. Remember that your Dynamax Pokémon’s Max Move matches the type of their Fast Attack. So, when battling Gigantamax Snorlax, use Dynamax Pokémon that have a Fighting-type Fast Attack to deal the most damage. Dynamax Pokémon that can use a Fighting-type Max Move include Machamp, Dubwool, and Falinks. And don’t forget that Gigantamax Machamp is also available in Pokémon GO and an excellent choice for this battle.

Sweet dreams, Trainers!
