Celebrate Mother’s Day with the Pokémon Trading Card Game

Peruse a few of our favorite cards that highlight some of the most iconic mothers in the Pokémon world.

Mothers play a vital role in the Pokémon world: helping young Pokémon Trainers and Pokémon be the best they can be. To celebrate Mother’s Day, we’re highlighting some of our favorite PokéMom TCG cards through the years—both humans and Pokémon alike! Let’s take a look at unique artwork and small stories from the world of Pokémon that really speak to the life of a PokéMom.

A PokéMom’s Kindness

Is there any kindness greater than that of a PokéMom? Mom’s Kindness from the Diamond & Pearl—Majestic Dawn expansion depicts none other than the classic mother and daughter duo of Johanna and Dawn. It appears that Johanna is preparing supplies as Dawn gets ready for an excursion—perhaps the first steps of her Pokémon journey? We don’t know for sure, but Johanna is the type of PokéMom to make sure Dawn is ready to go at a moment’s notice.

A PokéMom That’s Always There

When it comes to iconic PokéMoms, Kangaskhan can’t be left off our list. This Pokémon from the Kanto region is known for raising their young in their belly pouch, letting the baby out to play only when it feels safe. Of course, when Kangaskhan Mega Evolves, her baby stands tall outside of her pouch as the two battle together. It’s said that when Kangaskhan sees the back of her Mega-Evolved child, it makes her think of the day when her child will inevitably leave her—hold on, we need to grab some tissues.

An Ice-Cold PokéMom with a Warm Heart

Have you seen a scene more heartwarming (and delicious) than this? Melony’s prepared a whole feast: curry, pancakes, sandwiches and what appears to be the cutest Snom omelet, or should we say… a Snom-let. You might not know if you played Pokémon Sword, but Melony is a chill Gym Leader specializing in Ice types in Pokémon Shield and is the mother of Circhester Gym Leader Gordie from Pokémon Sword. If you look carefully, you can see what appears to be doodles of Melony, Gordie, and Frosmoth—perhaps Gordie drew them for his PokéMom? Adorable.

PokéMom Royalty

All PokéMoms are queens and Nidoqueen is no exception. Nidoqueen’s motherly nature has appeared in the form of Poké-Bodies, Poké-Powers, and Abilities. Several of them either search for Pokémon or benefit from having more Pokémon in play, but these three Nidoqueen specifically support other Pokémon in play. And names for Poké-Bodies don’t get much more motherly than Family Bonds, Mother Pheromone, and Maternal Comfort. The Nidoqueen from the Platinum—Rising Rivals expansion was even featured in a wide variety of World Championships decks, so you know PokéMoms stay winning.

A PokéMom’s Life

A PokéMom and her Pokémon growing old together in a cozy home? Too sweet! You can see scribbled drawings of Kirlia in the background of their family—likely doodles from this PokéMom’s child—alongside a variety of family portraits. The bounty of love there is to go around really shows.
