It’s been more than six years since Pokémon GO launched, and soon, the first Pokémon GO World Champions will be crowned during the 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London. Not only can you can watch the momentous occasion live on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel, you can also take part in a celebration event in Pokémon GO! From Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time, Trainers can be encounter World Championships 2022 Pikachu in its Pokémon GO debut, earn triple Stardust from GO Battle League victories, and encounter featured Pokémon in the wild.

In-game Challengers with Pokémon teams inspired by those used by Pokémon GO Regional Champions will appear at PokéStops. Combined with a triple Stardust bonus for winning Trainer Battles and Victory Road–inspired music playing during Trainer Battles, there’s plenty of motivation to get out and battle! Plus, Trainers can earn rewards that include an Elite Fast TM and an Elite Charged TM by completing Timed Research.

Many of the Pokémon appearing in the wild during this celebration event evolve into Pokémon that are popular in the GO Battle League, so keep an eye out for Nidoran♀, Mankey, Machop, Mudkip, Sableye, Meditite, Swablu, Spheal, Croagunk, Scraggy, Galarian Stunfisk, and Dewpider. You can also complete Field Research tasks to encounter Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Magikarp, Chikorita, Galarian Zigzagoon, Beldum, and Fletchling.
