Official Rules To Redeem Travel Award and Invitations Won at Qualifying Events

Description of Travel Award and Invitation

Players can qualify for Travel Awards for designated events based on their performance and their standing in Championship Points in their home rating zone (e.g., North America, Latin America, Europe, or Oceania) during stand-alone qualification periods.

Players who qualify will receive a one-time Travel Award payment prior to the designated event. Players are fully responsible for booking their own hotel and travel. The Travel Award amount is determined by Pokémon on a seasonal basis, and can be found in the FAQs for each specific event at pokemon.com. Travel Award amounts are based on the event, the age of the recipient, their region of residence, and the region of the event. Travel Award amounts are determined by Pokémon prior to each event, and all recipients in each age/region category will receive the same amount.

A player may receive an invitation to compete at a specified invitation-only event (“Invitation”) based on the player’s performance and their standing in Championship Points in their home rating zone (e.g., North America, Latin America, Europe, or Oceania) during stand-alone qualification periods. An Invitation may or may not be accompanied by a Travel Award.

How to Redeem the Travel Award

To receive a Travel Award, a recipient who lives in the United States must have a valid Social Security number and will be required to complete a W9 form. If the recipient is not a U.S. taxpayer, another taxpayer identification number may be requested. If subject to U.S income tax, the recipient will be issued an IRS 1099 form for Travel Award amounts valued at $600 or more. If the winner or companion is taxable outside the United States, other applicable documentation may be required from the recipient as required by law.

To redeem a Travel Award and Invitation, the winner of this invitation must:

  1. Submit all forms and information by the dates and according to the instructions provided.

  2. Have a active Pokémon Trainer Club account, including all requested contact information no later than fourteen (14) days after receiving an official invitation to the event from Pokémon (no purchase necessary to open this account). Please click here for registration information and to review our Privacy Policy. The Pokémon Trainer Club account must remain active at least through the final day of the event.

  3. Complete and submit a Release, Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Hold Harmless Agreement (“Release”) by the stated deadline date.

Missed deadlines or incomplete submissions may result in disqualification and Pokémon may, at its sole discretion, rescind the Travel Award and/or Invitation and award another eligible player.
