Volo & Togepi Arrive in Pokémon Masters EX from the Hisui Region

Power up your team with help from the Ginkgo Guild merchant, who arrives as a Fairy-type field sync pair.

The Ginkgo Guild merchant Volo has arrived in Pokémon Masters EX straight from the Hisui region—and he’s brought along his sync pair partner Togepi. These two strangers in an even stranger land are sure to discover all sorts of interesting things on the isle of Pasio.

Volo & Togepi

As a Fairy-type field sync pair, Volo & Togepi are adept at altering field effects to benefit your team during battle. Thanks to the duo’s Sinnoh theme skill and Sinnoh Solidarity move, they become even more effective when teamed up with other sync pairs that share the Sinnoh theme.

Sinnoh Solidarity does quite a bit for your team. The move increases the Physical Moves ↑ Next effect and Special Moves ↑ Next effect of all allied sync pairs by one rank. It also applies Sinnoh Circle (Defensive) to the allied field of play, which powers up the moves and sync moves of all allied sync pairs while also reducing the damage they take from attack moves and sync moves. Sinnoh Circle (Defensive) will also activate Volo & Togepi’s passive skill Circle: Team S-Moves 3, which powers up the sync moves of all allied sync pairs.

The pair’s Masterful Metronome move is normally (heh) a Normal-type move, but it becomes a Fairy-type move thanks to their Piqued Curiosity passive skill. Masterful Metronome uses one of several moves at random and randomly activates one of several additional effects. It also bolsters your team even further by increasing the Physical Moves ↑ Next effect and Special Moves ↑ Next effect of all allied sync pairs by one rank.

Finally, don’t forget about Volo & Togepi’s This Is an Investment! move, which raises an ally’s Attack and Sp. Atk by four stat ranks and their critical-hit rate by three stat ranks—another quick and easy way to strengthen your squad.

For more details on this sync pair’s passive skills and moves, check out Volo & Togepi’s in-game sync pair scout screen. Volo & Togepi are available to scout from March 28, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. to April 17, 2024, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Recommended Sync Pairs to Partner with Volo & Togepi

Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina

These two sync pairs look suspiciously similar... But no matter! Sygna Suit Cynthia & Giratina and Volo & Togepi each possess the Sinnoh theme skill, increasing the effectiveness of Volo & Togepi’s Sinnoh Circle and Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina’s passive skill Sinnoh Flag Bearer—the latter of which also increases the power of attacks and reduces the damage of incoming attacks for all allied sync pairs. Together, these sync pairs will both dish out and shrug off damage with ease when they hit the battlefield.

Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina can also deal high physical and special damage with Shadow Force and Shadow Ball—this makes her an ideal sync pair for the Physical Moves ↑ Next and Special Moves ↑ Next effects granted by Volo & Togepi’s Masterful Metronome. If you focus on using Shadow Ball for a few turns, you can stack up plenty of Physical Moves ↑ Next effects and make your next Shadow Force truly a force to be reckoned with!

Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina are available to scout from the Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina Master Fair Scout until April 27, 2024, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Cyrus & Palkia

Like Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Giratina, Cyrus & Palkia have the Sinnoh theme skill, increasing the effectiveness of Volo & Togepi’s Sinnoh Circle. These two sync pairs don’t have a lot of inherent synergy, but Cyrus & Palkia’s status as one of the strongest strike sync pairs with the Sinnoh theme skill makes them a strong choice to use alongside Volo & Togepi. Cyrus & Palkia also greatly benefit from having their critical-hit rate raised by Volo & Togepi’s This is an Investment! Trainer move since they ordinarily can’t do so without additional support. This is key, as their passive skill Critical Strike 9 greatly powers up their attacks when they land as critical hits.

Cyrus & Palkia can be obtained by completing New World Dilemma in the Legendary Adventures section of the main story.

Have an egg-cellent time on Pasio, Trainers!
