The newest Pokémon TCG expansion, Sun & Moon—Burning Shadows, is chock full of great cards, but there's just something special about the dynamic Pokémon-GX that gets Trainers extra excited. Let's take a peek at some of the coolest Pokémon-GX that you'll be able to find in special boxes―or in booster packs, if you're lucky!
When visiting Alola, you're bound to hear tales of the mysterious Island Guardians who protect the land. These mysterious Pokémon are paid tribute with these beautiful cards. Tapu Bulu-GX can heal itself with its Tapu Wilderness-GX attack, while Tapu Fini-GX's Tapu Storm-GX attack can shuffle your opponent's Active Pokémon back into their deck. You can really feel the power of the Tapu Storm in the card's dynamic artwork.
There are plenty of unique Pokémon to be found in the Alola region, and as you might expect, some are more powerful than others. These tough Pokémon can do a ton of damage to your opponent. Check out the mighty combo you can perform with Golisopod-GX's First Impression and Crossing Cut-GX attacks. No one wants to get caught in those massive claws! Salazzle-GX can pull off strong attacks with minimal Energy, and the card illustration gives it the appearance of being in full control of the flames around it. The Lycanfang-GX attack of the stoic-looking Lycanroc-GX does a whopping 200 damage!
The Sun & Moon―Burning Shadows expansion isn't filled only with Pokémon discovered in the Alola region. Some old friends from the Kanto and Johto regions get their due as well. You can practically feel the heat radiating off Ho-Oh-GX's card, and its Eternal Flame-GX attack that brings Fire-type Pokémon-GX and Pokémon-EX back from your discard pile is incredibly useful. The mighty Machamp-GX sends four furious fists flying—beware its Cross-Cut attack, which does extra damage to Evolution Pokémon. Charizard-GX appears to be bursting off its card, but the thing to watch out for is its Crimson Storm attack, which does an unbelievable 300 damage!
Legendary and Mythical
Not surprisingly, some rarely-seen Legendary and Mythical Pokémon have been given the Pokémon-GX treatment in Sun & Moon―Burning Shadows. Necrozma-GX's Black Ray-GX attack affects all of your opponent's Pokémon-GX and Pokémon-EX, and its crystalline body makes for an impressive-looking card. In a flurry of flying fists, we see the newly discovered Mythical Pokémon Marshadow-GX in the middle of performing its fantastically-named Peerless Hundred Blows-GX attack, which does more damage based on how much basic Energy is attached to it. Speaking of energy, that glowing sphere of energy in Darkrai-GX's art is nothing to mess with, and neither is its Restoration Ability, which allows the Mythical Pokémon to return from your discard pile to your Bench.
