As you explore Lumiose City in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you may have had some illuminating conversations with the locals. Some citizens have light gossip to share about Trainers from Kalos’s past. Others discuss Trainers and places from other regions they’ve visited. Many of these moments had us reminiscing about past adventures we’ve had in the Pokémon world, so we gathered some of our favorite conversations that took us on a trip down memory lane.
Multi Trains in Unova

The Multi Trains are part of the Battle Subway facility that sets off from Gear Station in the Unova region’s Nimbasa City. Visitors to Unova may remember battling the iconic Subway Bosses, Ingo and Emmet, which is something the Lumiose City Trainer shown is aspiring toward! With how many Trainers participate in the Z-A Royale each night, it makes sense that this Trainer wants to put his Pokémon to the test in a new environment.
Speaking of which, didn’t we recently see Ingo somewhere else? Maybe a visit to the Lumiose Museum would jog our memory.
Professor Sycamore’s Travels

In Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Professor Sycamore guides you through the first steps of your Pokémon journey. He’s well-known in the Kalos region for his Mega Evolution research. While he’s passed over operations of the Pokémon Research Lab to Mable, it seems his adventures aren’t quite finished. Speaking to one Trainer, we learned that the good professor is taking time off to explore a far-off region with Trevor, a photographer who is one of your friends (and rivals) in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Apricorn Poké Balls on Display

Kurt is an expert Poké Ball smith from the Johto region who makes his own custom Poké Balls out of Apricorns. Since Apricorns haven’t been found to grow in the Kalos region, we completely understand this Trainer’s desire to collect Kurt’s creations—there’s just something special about owning a handcrafted item.
Piers’s Catchy Music

There are several tourists around Lumiose City that talk about the Galar region, whether they’re from the area or plan to travel there once they’ve soaked up all Lumiose City has to offer. This group in the plaza is discussing Piers, a Gym Leader from Spikemuth specializing in Dark-type Pokémon who is also a stellar musician. A catchy tune is enough to bring a skip to your step and brighten your mood, and Piers’s humble song seems to have struck a chord with this group.
Wild Zones Feeling Like the Safari Zone

As part of the Lumiose City urban redevelopment plan, new wild zones are cropping up all over the city, allowing wild Pokémon to roam within Lumiose. These areas reminded this gentleman of the Safari Zones in the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn regions—nature preserves where you pay a nominal fee to catch specific Pokémon. Unlike wild zones, Trainers braving the Safari Zone have to catch Pokémon without battling them.
Roller Skates Are Out, Roto-Glide Is In

Of all the various ways to get around in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, roller skating was perhaps one of the most memorable. Once you acquired a pair of skates, you could zoom off and explore the region—even perform a few snazzy tricks. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, we’ve swapped roller blading for Roto-Glide, using the power of our Rotom Phone to scale the scaffolding and soar over the rooftops of Lumiose City. We know some Trainers may miss zooming through the streets on stylish roller blades, but this gentleman makes a salient point about why roller skating may have fallen out of style.

Though we suppose using Roto-Glide to reach a rooftop where an alpha Pokémon is hanging out comes with its own set of risks.
Did you know all these Trainers and places? Whether you recognized every reference or learned something new, we hope this inspires you to take a minute and chat with the people of Lumiose between exploring the city, completing the many heartwarming side missions, and finishing research tasks for Mable. Who knows what other references you might uncover!
