Professor Oak’s Pokémon Poetry on Pokémon TV

Though best known for his expansive Pokémon research, Kanto’s Professor Oak is also a renowned Pokémon poet within the Pokémon world.

As a respected Pokémon researcher and educator and mentor to Ash Ketchum, Professor Oak is a beloved and busy figure within the Pokémon world. Known as senryū, Professor Oak’s poems are always focused on the subject of Pokémon, Pokémon training, and the relationship between people and Pokémon. The professor is so well-known for his poetry that he’s even produced a book of it in Pokémon the Series. Professor Oak created the following poem as an ode to Ash and his friends setting out on a new journey:

When friends go on their journey
They bring along who?
Pikachu, that’s who!
