Preview Four Different Ogerpon in Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals

Ogerpon wears many masks—today, we’re showing off a closer look at the powers contained within each one.

The Mask Pokémon Ogerpon is back to make more mischief in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals! All four of its forms have cards that focus on the different Energy types it draws out from the power contained within its masks. Let’s take a look!

Teal Mask Ogerpon is a Grass type whose first attack lets you get more Energy onto the board. For Colorless, Grass Kagura lets you search your deck for a Basic Grass Energy card, attach it to one of your Pokémon, then shuffle your deck. You can use this to power up heavy hitters or even add it to Teal Mask Ogerpon itself if you want to use Ogre’s Hammer. However, keep in mind that once you use Ogre’s Hammer, Teal Mask Ogerpon cannot use that attack during your next turn.

In this illustration by Tomomi Ozaki, Teal Mask Ogerpon appears to be playfully darting through the trees, as though inviting you to chase after it.

In this form, Ogerpon draws on the power of fire, becoming Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon. It has a similar first attack to Teal Mask Ogerpon, instead allowing you to search for a Basic Fire Energy card and attach it to one of your Pokémon—be that one on your Bench or Ogerpon itself. Then, for Fire Fire Colorless, Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon can use Searing Flame to do 80 damage and make your opponent’s Active Pokémon Burned.

This aggressive form of Ogerpon bombards enemies with the intensity of flames, as we can see in the illustration by HYOGONOSUKE. The blaze growing behind Ogerpon casts a fierce glow, matching its equally fiery expression.

You’ll likely notice a pattern here—Water Kagura, for Colorless, allows you to search for a Basic Water Energy card, attach it to one of your Pokémon, then shuffle your deck. Wellspring Mask Ogerpon is known for excelling in both attack and defense, drawing on the power of water to unleash its moves. Bubble Drain, to that effect, does 100 damage and heals 30 damage from the Pokémon.

Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon rounds out our collection as a Fighting type. Like the other Kagura attacks, Rock Kagura helps you find a Basic Fighting Energy from your deck and attach it to the Pokémon of your choice, shuffling your deck afterward. For Fighting Fighting Colorless, Mountain Ramming does 100 damage to your opponent’s Pokémon, and then you discard the top card of your opponent’s deck.

Leaping across the clifftops with a colorful sunset backdrop, Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon looks like it’s enjoying itself in this illustration by Kazumasa Yasukuni.

Which Ogerpon will you add to a deck? You can find them all—and more—in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals expansion releasing May 30, 2025. While you wait, be sure to keep your eyes on this site, official Pokémon social media, and other places for more card previews.
