You can battle in Pokémon TCG, Video Game Championship (VGC), and Pokémon GO Regional Championships, which take place all over the world. After the Pokémon International Championships, the Pokémon Regional Championships are the largest events in terms of both attendance and Championship Point payouts. They also award direct invitations to the World Championships for Pokémon GO.
Up to $65,000 in prizes, scholarships, and gift cards (based on attendance)
No qualifications or residency restrictions to enter TCG or VGC events
Pokémon TCG players need to bring their own legal 60-card deck for the Standard format. Pokémon VGC players must bring their own game system and a legal Pokémon team. Pokémon GO players must have a legal Pokémon team on their GO account.
In order to participate, players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account; be in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program; and comply with current COVID-19 requirements for large Pokémon events.
Registration for these events is handled by the Tournament Organizer, and an entry fee may be charged at their discretion. Many Regional Championships require online registration, and events may sell out. Please check the Event Locator for details about each event, including information regarding registration.
2023 Pokémon Regional Championships Formats
All the Pokémon TCG Regional Championships will use the Standard format, though some may have Expanded side events. Pokémon VGC Championship Series events will begin in January 2023 and be played in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games for Nintendo Switch for the whole 2023 season. Pokémon GO events will use the Great League format.
2023 Pokémon Regional Championships Schedule
Most Regional Championships have both Pokémon TCG and Pokémon GO, and from January 2023 onward also feature VGC events. Some events may be exclusive to players of one game. See the table below for more details.
Regional Championships main events take place on Saturday and Sunday. Event listings that include a Friday date feature side events and smaller competitions on that day.
