For the Pokémon Horizons: The Series Part 1 quiz, give yourself one point for each correct answer. Tally your points to see how well you did below.

  1. In Episode 1, “The Pendant That Starts It All: Part One,” Liko leaves her home in Paldea to enroll at Indigo Academy in Kanto. Along the way, she meets her new roommate, Ann, gets her first partner Pokémon, Sprigatito, and discovers that there’s something unusual about the pendant her grandma gave her. When a stranger approaches Liko at school, claiming to have a message from her grandma, Liko becomes suspicious and attempts to flee, kicking off an epic adventure.

When Liko chooses the Poké Ball containing her first partner Pokémon, how many Poké Balls are remaining, and how many Poké Balls have already been taken by other students?

  1. In Episode 2, “The Pendant That Starts It All: Part Two,” Liko and Sprigatito are fleeing Amethio, who appeared at Indigo Academy demanding Liko’s pendant. Friede and Charizard arrive just in time to rescue Liko and Sprigatito, flying them to Friede’s airship. Unfortunately, Amethio and the Explorers follow them. Friede and Captain Pikachu challenge Amethio and Ceruledge before Liko and Sprigatito take over battling. But there’s a storm raging around the airship, and Sprigatito gets knocked overboard, only to be caught by Amethio. Before Liko can rescue Sprigatito, the Explorers retreat, taking Sprigatito with them.

What is the name of the Rising Volt Tacklers’ airship?

  1. In Episode 3, “For Sure! ’Cause Sprigatito’s With Me!,” Liko and the Rising Volt Tacklers try to track down Sprigatito after it’s taken by the Explorers. Liko and Mollie run errands while Friede and Murdock look for signs of Sprigatito in town. After identifying a member of the Explorers and following them back to their hideout, Friede and Liko infiltrate the building and rescue Sprigatito. Liko and Sprigatito are happy to return to the airship with the Rising Volt Tacklers.

How many boxes does Liko receive from the Pokémon Center while running errands with Mollie?

  1. In Episode 4, “The Treasure After the Storm!,” the airship is forced to land on an island in Kanto for repairs. After Friede and Charizard depart to look for help, Fuecoco falls off the ship and ends up wandering around the island. Liko and Sprigatito follow Fuecoco onto the island, hoping to rescue it. Meanwhile, Fuecoco meets an aspiring Pokémon Trainer named Roy, but it also angers the wild Pokémon who live on the island by eating all their food. When the wild Pokémon attack, capturing Liko, Sprigatito, Roy, and Fuecoco, Friede and Charizard come to the rescue. Friede, Liko, and their Pokémon return to the airship, leaving Roy on the island.

Which five Pokémon does Liko feed breakfast to before following Fuecoco onto the island?

  1. In Episode 5, “Found You, Fuecoco!,” Roy sneaks aboard the airship to look for Fuecoco, and the Rising Volt Tacklers allow him to stay the night. The next day, they return to the island, hoping the wild Pokémon there can help repair the airship because Orla is struggling to patch numerous holes. Friede discovers the island’s village elder is Roy’s grandpa. The Explorers find the airship, and Fuecoco sounds the alarm. While the Rising Volt Tacklers battle the Explorers on the beach, the wild Pokémon work together to help fix the airship under Roy’s leadership. But that doesn’t stop the Explorers from continuing their attacks in their effort to steal Liko’s pendant.

When Orla reveals that she stayed up all night trying to patch holes in the airship, she compares the process to what game?

  1. In Episode 6, “The Ancient Poké Ball,” the battle continues between the Explorers and the Rising Volt Tacklers as Amethio remains determined to steal Liko’s pendant. When the pendant once again saves Liko from Amethio, Roy’s Ancient Poké Ball starts to glow as well. Liko, Sprigatito, Roy, and Fuecoco battle Amethio’s Ceruledge, and when it seems they’re about to lose, a Legendary Pokémon suddenly emerges from Roy’s Ancient Poké Ball. Amethio orders the Explorers to retreat and is later removed from the mission as a result of his failure to bring back the pendant. Roy catches Fuecoco, becoming an official Pokémon Trainer. The airship takes off for Paldea, this time with Roy and his new partner Fuecoco on board.

According to the Pokédex entry read by Liko’s Rotom Phone, the Pokémon that emerged from Roy’s Ancient Poké Ball has been living where for hundreds of millions of years?

  1. In Episode 7, “Special Training with Cap!,” Friede declares Liko and Roy official members of the Rising Volt Tacklers. Liko and Roy also learn there’s another crew member they haven’t met: Murdock’s niece, Dot. Roy challenges Liko to a Pokémon battle, which ends with Fuecoco and Sprigatito both taking a nap. After their recent defeat in a Pokémon battle against Amethio, Liko and Roy ask Friede to train them to become stronger. Their first battle against Captain Pikachu doesn’t go well, but in their second battle, this time against each other, it’s obvious they learned a lot from Cap.

During Liko, Sprigatito, Roy, and Fuecoco’s battle against Captain Pikachu, how many times does Liko order Sprigatito to attack with Leafage, and how many times does she tell Sprigatito to attack with Scratch?

  1. In Episode 8, “The Door That Never Opens,” Murdock is secretly cooking special dishes for Dot, who isn’t particularly interested in food. As a result, the airship is running low on certain baking supplies, requiring the crew to make a special stop to go shopping. Roy is excited to go into town after living most of his life on an island, and it gives him the opportunity to ask if anyone has seen the black Rayquaza. Liko stays behind to do chores, and while delivering lunch to Dot’s room, she concludes that Dot is a fellow Nidothing fan and tries to bond with her over the streamer. Liko watches Nidothing’s livestream and even submits a question about how to befriend Dot, who seems to want nothing to do with her. The crew returns from shopping, and Dot continues to rebuff Liko and Roy’s efforts to get to know her. That night, when Murdock and Friede sneak into the kitchen, they discover the snack cabinet is empty, meaning Dot took the snacks for herself—like Murdock hoped she would.

What four ingredients is the airship running low on, requiring an impromptu shopping trip on the route to Paldea?

  1. In Episode 9, “Welcome to Paldea!,” the Rising Volt Tacklers arrive in Paldea, and Roy is excited to track down the black Rayquaza. Liko sadly realizes that her time with the Rising Volt Tacklers is coming to an end. On her way home, she gives Friede and Roy a tour of Mesagoza, including Naranja Academy and various shops. Then they head to her home in Cabo Poco, but her mom is at work and her dad, Alex, is busy working on a new painting. The group meets Alex’s Fidough, and Sprigatito seems a little jealous. Liko realizes that she wants to continue adventuring with the Rising Volt Tacklers, and her dad gives her permission to continue her journey. Based on a tip from Alex, the Rising Volt Tacklers decide their next stop will be Artazon to visit an artist named Brassius.

When Alex asks Liko to deliver a stack of his picture books to Roy, the book at the top of the pile shows which five Pokémon on the cover?

  1. In Episode 10, “Nemona and Brassius and…,” Liko and Roy arrive in Artazon and admire many Grass-type Pokémon. They also meet Nemona, a Champion-ranked Trainer and skilled battler who takes them to Brassius’s art studio. Liko realizes that Brassius is going through an artistic slump, so she, Roy, and Nemona decide to fill Sunflora Lawn with Sunflora to cheer him up. The artist reveals his black Rayquaza sculpture with the trio, and then he challenges Roy to a Pokémon battle. Initially, it doesn’t go well for Roy because he mistakes Sudowoodo for a Grass-type Pokémon. But when Fuecoco learns a new attack in the middle of the battle, it turns things around. Although Roy and Fuecoco lose, Brassius declares their battle to be art and seems to get past his artistic crisis. Brassius tells Liko and Roy about a forest where he saw Rayquaza and an Arboliva that seemed to be in sync with it.

What is the name of Brassius’ Rayquaza sculpture?

  1. In Episode 11, “Arboliva’s Forest,” Liko confronts Dot—through her door, of course—asking her if she’s a hardcore Nidothing fan. Then, Mollie joins Liko and Roy to visit the forest mentioned by Brassius. They discover that much of the forest recently burned down because of a wildfire caused by a lightning bolt. Liko confides to Mollie that she’s not sure what she wants to do when she grows up, and Mollie shares that her family have always been Pokémon doctors, and she was expected to follow their path but realized she didn’t want to work in a Pokémon Center. Mollie then shows Liko some berries that can be used to heal Pokémon, and Liko finds an injured Pokémon that Mollie is determined to heal. Roy and Fuecoco climb an enormous tree with an Ancient Poké Ball in it, only to discover the Ancient Poké Ball contains a very large, very angry Arboliva. Liko and Roy distract the angry Arboliva until the injured Pokémon is able to intervene on behalf of Liko, Roy, and Mollie. Arboliva then shows Liko and Roy the damage to the forest.

Besides Arboliva, which three wild Pokémon attack Liko while she is trying to help the sick Paldean Wooper?

  1. In Episode 12, “The Future I Choose,” Liko decides to help heal the forest after a fire. Liko and Sprigatito gather berries, Roy and Fuecoco break up the soil, and everyone plants the seeds. Dot alerts the other Rising Volt Tacklers to something blocking the Rotom Phone signals in the area, and Friede and Captain Pikachu defeat the Pokémon causing the problems. Ludlow’s Quagsire uses Rain Dance, and Arboliva uses its Ability to accelerate plant growth in the forest. Liko’s pendant glows once more, and Arboliva returns to its Ancient Poké Ball, which Liko and Roy take with them. While at the library researching Liko’s pendant, Friede meets up with Liko’s mom, Lucca, who reveals that the black Rayquaza and Arboliva are two of the Six Heroes of Lucius, the Ancient Adventurer. But Lucca still doesn’t know much about Liko’s pendant. The Rising Volt Tacklers decide to seek out Liko’s grandma in the Galar region to try to learn more.

    What is Quagsire’s Pokédex number?
