Check out the new way to track your rewards for playing Pokémon!
Play! Points reward players for simply doing what they love: playing Pokémon! Every officially sanctioned Pokémon tournament or League awards Play! Points, and larger “destination events” award even more.
How do I earn Play! Points?
Set up a Pokémon Trainer Club account with a Play! Pokémon Player ID, set your preferences to opt in to Play! Pokémon programs, and then participate in Pokémon Leagues and tournaments. That’s it!
How do I opt in to Play! Points?
Log in to your Pokémon Trainer Club account (parents, you’ll need to do this for your kids). Then click “Edit Profile,” scroll to the bottom of the page to the “Play! Pokémon Preferences,” and select “Yes! I want to participate in all available Play! Pokémon Programs.”
What are Play! Points used for?
Play! Points are used to qualify players for high-level events such as National Championships, where we believe it’s important that players have some experience prior to participating. In addition, Play! Points will replace the Player Rewards program. Players will receive rewards based upon their placement on the overall Play! Points totals list.
What happens if I don’t play every round of a tournament?
Play! Points will be awarded only to players who complete at least two rounds of a tournament. Random and awarded byes count towards this two-round total. Forced losses (late arrival) do not.
What are the Play! Points values for Leagues and tournaments?
For the 2013 tournament season, Play! Points values are awarded as follows for Trading Card Game and Video Game events SEPARATELY:
Non-Premier Events:
- Tournament: 1 per event per month, up to 12 total per year
- League: 1 per League season, up to 8 total per year
Premier Events:
- Prerelease Tournament: 1 per event, no limit
- Battle Road Tournament: 1 per event, no limit
- City Championships: 2 per event, no limit
- State/Province/Territory Championships: 3 per event, no limit
- Regional Championships: 3 per event, no limit
- National Championships: 10 points
- Some side events may also award Play! Points
- World Championships: 20 points
- Some side events may also award Play! Points
How are Play! Points different from Championship Points?
Championship Points reward players for high placement at tournaments. Play! Points reward players just for playing!
Can I earn Play! Points for organizing or judging tournaments, or running a League?
No. Play! Points are awarded for playing in events. Event staff who have been accepted into the Professor Program will earn Professor Credits for organizational duties. Professors will be able to qualify for events such as U.S. Nationals and other events that require Play! Points based on the Professor Credits they have earned.
