30 June, 2012 in Play! Pokémon

The second day is a wrap from the Pokémon National Championships. Tomorrow the top remaining players will vie for the title.

It’s been another day of great competition here at the Indiana Convention Center. Both the Pokémon TCG and video game players were in action all day long. Pokémon TCG players began the morning by wrapping up their last four Swiss rounds. When the dust settled, the final brackets were set.

The Video Game National Championships also began this morning, with heated Masters Division battles starting things off.

After lunch, the Pokémon TCG players who made the final bracket started their first matches. In the Junior Division, 32 players advanced to this stage; in the Senior Division the player count was 64; and 128 Masters Division players made the final bracket. Each division played enough games to get down to the top 16 players, who will play for it all tomorrow.

The afternoon also saw the start of the Video Game Championships for the Junior and Senior Divisions. Battles were hard fought, with spectators crowding around the TVs to watch featured matches. Tomorrow, the top 32 players from the Masters and Seniors Divisions will advance to the bracket rounds, while the top 16 players from Junior Division advance.

Be sure to visit the special National Championships page tomorrow to track all the exciting events at from here at the Pokémon National Championships!
