In addition to the regular events in the Championship Series schedule such as Regional and International Championships, Pokémon Special Events give Pokémon TCG, Video Game Championship (VGC), and Pokémon GO players more chances to earn Championship Points. Prizes are often awarded as well, at the discretion of the Tournament Organizer.

Pokémon TCG players need to bring their own legal 60-card deck. Pokémon VGC players must bring their own game, system in the Nintendo Switch family, and a legal team of Pokémon. Championship Series events for Pokémon VGC will be played using the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games. Pokémon GO players will need to bring their own device and legal team of Pokémon, but may be instructed to play tournament matches on devices provided by the Organizer.

In order to participate, players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account, be in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program, and comply with current COVID-19 requirements for large Pokémon events.

Registration for these events is handled by the Tournament Organizer. Many Special Events require online registration, and events may sell out quickly. Please check the Event Locator for details about each event, including information regarding registration.

2024 Europe Special Events Schedule

At Special Events in Europe, the Champion in each age division for the Pokémon TCG, VGC, and Pokémon GO will earn a guaranteed invitation to the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, regardless of their Championship Point total at the end of the season. Players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account with a Player ID attached, and must have opted in to the Play! Pokémon program in order to earn this invitation.
