Official Rules To Redeem Travel Award and Invitations Won at Qualifying Events
Description of Travel Award and Invitation
Travel Award trip amenities consist solely of one (two, if winner is under age 18) economy-class round-trip air ticket from the major gateway airport closest to prize winner's city of residence (as stated on Winner Information Form) to the destination specified in the event's prize listing. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or, upon written consent from a parent or legal guardian, a chaperone who is not a minor. The term "companion" in this document also includes any chaperone.
Invitations ("Invitation") consist of an invitation to compete at the specified invitation-only event.
All other expenses and costs not specified in the Travel Award and Invitation description, including, but not limited to, transportation to and from airport, meals, in-room movies, telephone, beverages, taxes, gratuities, incidentals, and any other expenses are the sole responsibility of the Travel Award winner. Winners and any companions are responsible for payment of all taxes on Travel Award and any prizes that they may receive at the Championships.
How to Redeem the Travel Award
To be awarded the Travel Award, any prize winner and any companion who live in the U.S.A. must have a valid Social Security number and complete a W9 form. If the winner or companion is not a U.S. taxpayer, another taxpayer identification number satisfactory to us may be requested. If winner or companion is subject to U.S income tax, they will be issued an IRS 1099 Form for the Travel Award for prize values at $600 or more. If the winner or companion is taxable outside the United States, we may require other applicable documentation from winner as required by law.
To redeem your Travel Award and Invitation, the winner of this invitation must:
- Complete and return a Release, Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Hold Harmless Agreement to The Pokémon Company International, Inc., by mail to the address listed above and by the stated deadline date. A disqualification may result and we may award a Travel Award and Invitation to another eligible player at our sole discretion if completed versions of all necessary documents are not returned to The Pokémon Company International, Inc., within the specified time.
Travel is subject to airline and hotel restrictions, blackout dates, and availability. Final choice of departure and destination airports, airline carrier, travel dates, flight times, and/or choice of destination hotel accommodations is at the sole discretion of The Pokémon Company International, Inc. Travel Award winner and travel companions must abide by, and are subject to, any and all minimum/maximum height, weight, and health-related requirements or restrictions set forth by product and/or service providers and are responsible for any personal insurance (as applicable). No credit or cash will be given for any unused portion of the Travel Award. Travel Award stated in these Rules is "AS-IS" and no trip extensions, hotel extensions, or changes will be made except at The Pokémon Company International, Inc.'s sole discretion. The Invitation and Travel Award are not transferable. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Invitation and Travel Award have no cash value and are not redeemable in full or part for cash. Should the prize winner be unable to attend the Championships, we may award a Travel Award and Invitation to the next eligible player at our discretion. Players suspended from Play! Pokémon are ineligible to compete in the Championships or for Travel Awards. The Pokémon Company International, Inc., is not responsible for the cancellation of the event or any cancellation or delays in transportation or other travel accommodations due to any unforeseeable interruption, and The Pokémon Company International, Inc., reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the Championships if an act of God or similar event interferes or if other causes corrupt or affect the safety, fairness, or proper conduct of the Championships.
