What does it cost to attend?

It's free! There is no entry fee to participate in the Pokémon TCG Last Chance Qualifier tournament.

What is the tournament structure?

The tournament is run using the Modified Format and Swiss pairings. See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for additional information about the Modified and Swiss formats. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event.

There will be no cut to single-elimination finals in the Last Chance Qualifier. The tournament will be run using Swiss pairings only, and after the appropriate number of rounds have been run, the top players will be selected based upon their final standings.

Who is eligible to play in the Pokémon TCG Last Chance Qualifier tournament?

  • To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Pokémon Tournament Rules and all other applicable event rules.
  • Players who have already earned an invitation to play in the 2010 World Championships (VGC or TCG) are not eligible to participate in the Last Chance Qualifier tournament.

What are the prizes?

The top 4* finishers in the Junior, Senior, and Masters Divisions will receive:

  • An invitation to compete in the Pokémon TCG World Championships on Saturday, August 14th.

*Minimum invites per division. The maximum number of invites awarded at the Last Chance Qualifier is determined by the maximum event size of the World Championships, not by total attendance of the Last Chance Qualifier. Players who earn invitations without Travel Awards must send travel verification in the form of airline itineraries, hotel booking receipts, or other proof of planned travel to customerservice@pokemon.com no later than 7/21/2010 or forfeit their seat into the event. Seats not claimed may be rolled into the Last Chance Qualifier.

What do I need to bring and know?

  • You must bring your own deck to play. Your deck must comply with the Modified Format as outlined in the Pokémon Tournament Rules.
  • Bring your Player ID number card, if you have one. If you don't have a Player ID number, one will be given to you at the event.
  • Make sure you arrive on time. If you are late for registration, you may not be able to sign up to play in the event. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The Pokémon TCG Last Chance Qualifier is operated by Pokémon Organized Play.
  • See the Legal Notices (coming soon) for certain eligibility requirements and other information.

What happens after the tournament?

Upon completion of the event, players who have won slots at the World Championships will be required to pick up their competitor packets at the registration desk. All release forms and waivers contained in the competitor packets must be completed and signed prior to departing the event area for the evening.

As the tournament is likely to end late in the evening, POP recommends players who earn slots at the World Championships retire to their rooms to get rested for the World Championships Main Event, for which competitors are expected to be in the tournament hall by 9:00am.

Additional participants may be offered slots, if any become available, based on their finish order and on whether the participant is on site at the time the Main Event begins.
