How do I set up my child’s Pokémon Trainer Club account information?
The process to allow a child under the age of consent full access to his or her Pokémon Trainer Club account is not complicated, but it does require several steps to accomplish. We have taken every precaution to ensure that, as the child's parent or guardian, you have full control over your child's account and are aware of the level of information about your child that is being stored and displayed publicly.
If you are a parent of a child who has created a Pokémon Trainer Club account, here's a brief summary of how the process works.
1. Receive Notification
When your child creates an account at www.pokemon.com, they'll enter in a parent (or guardian's) email address. You, the parent, will be contacted via email with the subject line "Pokémon Trainer Club Parental Consent Request." If you do not want to provide consent for the account, take no action and your child's account will be deleted within 14 days of its creation.
2. Create Your Own Account
When you click the "Continue with Consent Process" in the email you received, you'll go to www.pokemon.com where you can create your own personal account. This account will allow you to manage your child's account.
2a. Activate Your Own Account (if necessary)
If you choose to use a different email than the one your child used to begin the consent process, you'll need to activate it before granting consent for your child. See the additional "Email Activation" steps below to find out how to activate a different email address.
3. Sign In to Your Account
Once your account is created you will see a page titled "Parental Consent." Log into your account at Pokémon.com. You should be immediately directed to the page where you can grant consent for your child's account. If this page does not appear, look for the "My Family's Accounts" section at the top of your Profile page and click the name of the child you wish to grant consent for.
4. Grant Consent for Your Child
On the "Approve Child" page, enter an email address for your child. It does not have to be the same as your email address. You'll also be prompted to agree to the account terms of use on behalf of your child.
4a. Different Email Accounts?
If your child's email address is different than yours, he or she will have to confirm that email address following the "Email Activation" steps. Have him or her follow the Email Activation steps, below.
Email Activation
Pokémon.com requires Pokémon Trainer Club members to provide a valid email account so they can participate in various programs, receive rewards, and retrieve lost usernames and passwords.
1. You will receive an email with the subject "Pokémon Trainer Club Activation."
2. Within the email, click the "Activate Your Account" link—this will return you to www.pokemon.com, confirming your account activation.
