Pokémon TCG: Black & White

Get started on your new deck with the Grass-type Pokémon Snivy (1/114)! Along with Tepig and Oshawott, Snivy is one of the three starter Pokémon from the Unova region. This Basic Pokémon has two attacks, Tackle and Vine Whip, and though neither are all that formidable, Snivy plants the seeds for much more impressive evolutions, which will cause your deck to really blossom!

Stoke the flames of your Fire-type deck with Tepig (15/114), one of the starting Pokémon from the Unova region! Tepig is a Basic Pokémon with two simple attacks: Tackle does 10 damage and Rollout does 20 damage. But Tepig is only the beginning of something special: its evolved forms are sure to make your opponent feel the heat!

With the Water-type Pokémon Oshawott (27/114), your first chance to freshen up your Water-type deck is right around the corner. With its innocent face and two lightweight attacks (Tackle and Water Gun), Oshawott isn’t going to bowl your opponent over. But as Oshawott’s evolved forms enter the fray, the full force of your new Water-type deck will surely sink your opponent!

Give your Lightning deck a jolt with Galvantula (46/114)! This Stage 1 Pokémon is power-packed with two crafty attacks. For only 1 Lightning Energy, you can zap—and trap—your opponent’s Pokémon with the Electroweb attack. This attack does 20 damage, and the Defending Pokémon can’t retreat during your opponent’s next turn. So, if you’re up against a Pokémon that has a Weakness to Lightning (such as Oshawott), you can keep it from retreating as you rack up the damage! Galvantula has a relatively low 80 HP, but its Leech Life attack will help keep the damage counters off—after it does damage, you heal that amount of damage from Galvantula! With these two attacks, Galvantula is a great new way to charge up your deck!

Zoroark, the star of the movie Pokémon—Zoroark: Master of Illusions, now makes its debut in the Pokémon TCG! The Stage 1 Zoroark (71/114) lives up to its crafty reputation with two attacks possessing a lot of strategic potential! First, the Nasty Plot attack lets you retrieve any card from your deck, helping to set up your next strategies quickly. Then, Zoroark can follow up with Foul Play, which lets you use one of the Defending Pokémon’s attacks as your attack. The best thing about the Foul Play attack is that it just requires 2 Colorless Energy—you don’t have to worry about the Energy cost of the attack you choose. Better still, if you use Foul Play and choose an attack such as Reshiram’s (113/114) Blue Flare—which ordinarily requires you to discard 2 Fire Energy—the penalty only applies if Zoroark has Fire Energy attached to it. If you don’t have any Fire Energy attached to Zoroark, you can use the attack with no downside! There are plenty more opportunities to get creative with Zoroark’s attacks, making it a great choice to start building a deck around.

You might think this gruff-looking Stoutland (83/114) is all business...and you’d be right! The Colorless-type Stoutland is ready to contribute a couple of intriguing attacks to any deck. Stoutland’s Odor Sleuth attack makes it easy to recover cards from your discard pile: you return up to 3 cards to your hand, depending on three coin flips. If you’re looking for firepower, you can use this Pokémon’s Giga Impact attack to crush the Defending Pokémon for 90 damage! Stoutland has one more thing going for it: its 140 HP means it can take a serious beating and still stay in the thick of battle!

It doesn’t get cuter than Cinccino (89/114), one of Unova’s Colorless-type Pokémon. But don’t let Cinccino’s cuteness fool you—this Stage 1 Pokémon can pack a punch! Start out your assault with Cinccino’s Tail Slap attack, which lets you flip 2 coins and do 20 damage for each heads. Tail Slap costs only 1 Colorless Energy, a great value for an attack that has the potential to do 40 damage! Then strike with its Do the Wave attack, which does 20 damage for each Benched Pokémon you have in play. If your Bench is full, Cinccino will be slugging your opponent for 100 damage—for only 2 Colorless Energy! Catch your opponent off guard with Cinccino’s sweet face...and amazingly powerful attacks!

The new Legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom debut in the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Black & White expansion with perhaps the most striking card art ever seen in the game! The awesome image of Reshiram (113/114) fills the entire card, reflecting the Pokémon’s importance and strength. Reshiram’s game play value lives up to its impressive display, as the Fire-type Pokémon can deliver huge blows. Reshiram’s Outrage attack (which it shares with Zekrom) does 20 damage, plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on Reshiram. And, with 130 HP, it can take a lot of damage, making Outrage even stronger! Reshiram can also turn up the heat with its Blue Flare attack, which delivers a devastating 120 damage smackdown. It requires 2 Fire Energy and 1 Colorless Energy, and you have to discard 2 Fire Energy from Reshiram—but in return, you perform an attack that can Knock Out many of the Pokémon you’ll face in a single blow! With a beautiful card image and an impressive attack set, Reshiram is an incredible fit in any Fire deck you choose to make.

Judging by the card image of Zekrom (114/114), perhaps the power of the Legendary Pokémon is just too big to be contained by the normal frame! The tremendous black-on-black depiction creates one of the most stunning cards in Pokémon TCG history. This Zekrom card shares several traits with its counterpart Reshiram, including 130 HP and the Outrage attack (which does 20 damage, plus 10 more for each damage counter attached to Zekrom). Also, like Reshiram, Zekrom has a 120-damage attack, but Bolt Strike inflicts 40 damage to Zekrom itself—rather than requiring you to discard Energy, as with Reshiram’s Blue Flare attack. The damage penalty may be worth it, however, as it simply makes Zekrom’s Outrage attack even more powerful! Regardless, whether you plan to build an awesome Lightning deck or just keep the card as a highlight of your collection, this is one card you must keep your eye out for!
