2017 Pokémon World Championships

The 2017 Pokémon World Championships are headed to Anaheim, California, from August 18–20. The best players from around the world will be competing for the title of Pokémon TCG, Video Game, or Pokkén Tournament World Champion, and for a combined prize pool worth more than $500,000 in prizes!

The Pokémon World Championships are an invitation-only event. Players have been battling throughout the 2017 Championship Series season to earn a seat at this prestigious competition.

Spectators are invited to come watch the action all weekend long! Come see all the battles in person and participate in side events throughout the three-day event. There is a fee for a spectator badge, which is good for all three days of the event. See the Worlds registration page for details.

Play for all divisions for both the Pokémon TCG and video game competitions will begin on Friday, August 18. Top players who qualified for a Day Two invitation will join the field on Saturday, August 19. These tournaments will conclude with the final rounds on Sunday, August 20.

The Pokkén Tournament World Championships will take place entirely on Saturday, August 19.

Badges and Registration

Entry to this event will require a badge for all attendees, including competitors in the main event as well as spectators. Children age 5 and under will be given a wristband at no charge to allow entry into the event space.

Competitors can pick up their badges and welcome kits on Thursday, August 17, at the Anaheim Marriott, 700 Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802.

Side Events

Side events will take place throughout the weekend (Friday through Sunday). Only attendees who already have an event badge (including competitors and spectators) will be able to participate in side events.

Anaheim Open

Attendees can battle in the Anaheim Open, a marquee side event for both Pokémon TCG and video game players. The Anaheim Open will award Championship Points equivalent to a Pokémon Regional Championships event, applicable to the 2018 Championship Series season. Details on the 2018 Championship Series are coming in mid-July.

Pokkén Tournament Last Chance Qualifier

Battle for the remaining few spots in the Pokkén Tournament World Championships at the Last Chance Qualifier on Friday, August 18! All players age 10 or over can compete. Registration for the Last Chance Qualifier includes a spectator badge for the main event.

Streaming

Follow the action on Twitch.tv/Pokemon all weekend long! There will be four live streams for the event: a Pokémon TCG stream, a VGC stream, a Pokkén Tournament stream, and the Main Stage stream. The live streams will include all finals matches on Sunday.

Pokémon Center

A Pokémon Center store will be on site, giving players and fans a chance to buy Pokémon merchandise they won’t find anywhere else, including special World Championships products. Badges will not be required to visit the Pokémon Center.
