Making Con-tact!
It was cold and windy, but thousands of people from across the nation made their way to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City for the second annual New York Comic-Con! Was Pokémon there? You bet!
This year NYCC was bigger and better – and to take advantage of the increased space, Pokémon Center was there with a spectacular booth showcasing and selling a wide variety of Pokémon merchandise! Ever wanted a Skitty cap, or a Pikachu puppet? Those were available and much more, along with show exclusive pins sold for each day of the con!
Walking around the show floor you might have spotted the occasional yellow Pikachu bag, or a Chikorita plush in someone’s hand, but eventually they all came together in one place – the Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea Voice Actors Panel! The panel was held on Sunday, which just so happened to be Kids’ Day – when anyone 12 or under could get in for free with a paid adult guardian. Quite a few people were waiting outside for the panel to begin, and they were excited to meet our special guests! And just who were these very special individuals that would be attending this panel? Well, there was the charming Sarah Natochenny, who voices our intrepid hero Ash Ketchum; the lovely Michelle Knotz, who voices both the cheerful May and the infamous Jessie; and of course, the wild Bill Rogers, who plays the always-enamored Brock!
The audience was shown the first few minutes of the new movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea! The introduction was amazing, but the beginning chase was even more exciting! They especially liked – well, we can’t tell you that now! Just like all the kids asking questions about the movie’s plot, you’re going to have to wait until the DVD release, coming April 3!
The actors had a lot of fun answering questions – did you know that Bill has a soft spot for Bonsly, or that Michele has really mixed feelings about Harley? And the audience certainly had fun, especially when they were rewarded with prizes for acting such good questions!
New York Comic-Con may be over, but there’s always next year – as well as plenty other conventions across the nation! Will we see you there? Stay tuned to Pokémon.com for news on our upcoming appearances, new releases, and the latest scoops from the Pokémon universe!
